As physiotherapy is usually carried out in close contact with patients, we have put in place a new system to reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19 as much as possible.  This is based on the most up to date information and guidance issued by the government.

COVID-19 Health Screening Questionnaire & Consent Form

For you to be seen for a face to face appointment in the clinic, we will need you to complete a COVID-19 health screening questionnaire and consent form.  It is very important that you complete this as honestly and accurately as you can.  In addition, we will repeat the COVID screening questions 24-48 hours before being seen by phone, email or text to confirm that there have been no changes.  If there is any doubt, we will cancel the appointment and rearrange, and there will be no cancellation charge.

Initial Tele-health Appointment

All patients will have a tele-health appointment initially, so that we can find out what the problem is and how it is affecting your life.  A telephone appointment is available if you do not have access to a computer with a camera and microphone.  We will also need to know about your past medical history. 

At this initial appointment, we will be able to give you advice and guidance about your condition to get you started, and will consider if we need to see you for a face to face appointment in the clinic.  The benefits of being seen in-person and the risks will be explained to you so that we can decide together which route is most appropriate.  Some patients find that being seen “virtually” gives them all the information and advice that they need to make big improvements.  Others find a blended approach with some virtual appointments and some face to face appointments works well.

Face to Face Appointments Procedure:

  • Complete the screening & consent form and return it electronically (or bring it with you if you are unable to submit it electronically).

  • Please wait in your car until asked to come in by the physiotherapist.  Due to infection control measures, there is no waiting room or toilet available.

  • On arrival, the physiotherapist will repeat the COVID-19 screening questions and take your temperature with a non-contact forehead thermometer.  If your temperature is elevated, we will re-book your appointment for another time.

  • You will be asked to use hand sanitiser gel, and you will be given a surgical mask to wear whilst in the clinic.  Do not wear gloves.

  • Please only bring essential items with you – avoid bags / coats / scarves etc.

  • To reduce transmission risk, please attend alone.  A parent will need to accompany any child under 16.  You may bring a chaperone if pre-arranged.  Any chaperone will also need to complete the COVID-19 screening & consent form.

  • Where possible, a window will be left open for ventilation.

  • You will be asked to sit in a chair that is at least 2 metres away from the physiotherapist, and she will maintain social distancing where possible to reduce potential exposure.

  • Your physiotherapist will wear gloves, apron and a surgical mask.  She may also wear a visor.

  • The clinic will be cleaned thoroughly between patients in line with government guidelines for infection control, with staggered appointment times to allow for this.

  • Payment will be taken using a contactless system with a debit or credit card.

  • You will be asked to use hand gel again as you leave.
